🍂 Welcoming Autumn at The George: Our New Seasonal Menu Arrives 17th September
As the Hope Valley begins to glow with autumn colour and cooler evenings set in, it’s the perfect time to settle into a cosy corner at The George in Hathersage. Whether you’re joining us for a midweek dinner, Sunday roast or evening by the fire, our brand-new autumn menu launches on Wednesday 17th September – and it’s packed with comforting, seasonal flavours.
🍴 A Menu Rooted in the Season
Our Executive Chef Adrian Gagea has created this menu to nourish, indulge and celebrate the best local produce the Peak District has to offer.

From root vegetables like beetroots to pumpkins, this is the time when most of the crop is ready to be harvested and turned into something truly delicious." – Adrian Gagea, Executive Chef
As always, we believe in cooking with the seasons – not just for better flavour, but for freshness, sustainability and balance. We’ve sourced ingredients from local farms, dairies, and small producers, allowing us to showcase the region’s food heritage while supporting independent suppliers.
A highlight this season is our new partnership with Derbyshire based Bluebell Dairy – their small-batch artisan ice cream, made with milk from their own cows, features on our dessert menu and brings a luxuriously creamy finish to your meal.
🍽️ A Taste of What’s to Come
Here are just a few of the new dishes you’ll be able to enjoy from 17th September:
🐐 Goat’s Cheese & Cranberry Croquette with beetroot & cashew purée, rocket and spiced toasted cashew nuts (GF, V)
Delicious flavours, vibrant colours and a variety of textures.
🐖 Slow-Cooked Porchetta stuffed with pork ragu & spinach, served with creamy mash, roasted heritage carrots & sautéed sugar snaps (GF)
Made with local pork from New Close Farm in Bakewell and vegetables from Winters Food in Chesterfield, this Italian-style dish is rich, warming and full of flavour.
🍕 Venison Meatballs Marinara Pizza with mozzarella, sweety drop peppers, red onions and jalapeños
Peak District venison meets Italian tradition – a bold, hearty option perfect after a walk in the Peak District.
🍮 Chai & Cardamom Panna Cotta with white chocolate crumb, caramelised peaches and dark cherry compote (GF)
Inspired by Adrian’s favourite rainy-day drink, this light, creamy dessert is full of comforting autumn spice.

No autumn menu would be complete without something indulgent to finish. A few more desserts to look out for:
