We’re So Glad to See You! The George Hathersage Reopens

We've missed you so much

Oh it's emosh central here today at The George Hathersage. We're officially back open! After 8 long, upsetting and heartbreaking months while we dried out, recovered and renovated following flood damage it feels so good to be back open.

(You can read all about the flood and reopening here in this article in the Yorkshire Post).

But yes, we're back! Re-energised, ready and rocking. We are so excited to see you. Look at our happy, shiny, smiley faces!

Your Legendary Local Welcomes You Back With NEW Menus

At The George Hathersage we work hard to secure locally grown, reared and sourced produce and artisan products to create our delicious dishes.

Head chef, James Heywood, and executive chef, Adrian Gagea, have nailed this new summer menu with something for absolutely everyone.

James said, “My favourite dish on our menu has to be the Lebanese lamb ballotine. I’ve always been a massive fan of Middle Eastern flavours and this dish especially packs an array of flavours in there."

“From the spiced lamb shoulder to the char of the vegetable skewers, it’s then all brought together with the freshness of the hummus. It is quite the dish! It’s cooked low and slow in slightly spiced stock for around 6 hours so it is ridiculously tender."

General manager of The George, Alice Houghton, is a big fan of the gambas.

“It’s got the be the gambas for best dish on the menu for me!" she said.

“I know this dish originates in Spain but I can just picture it being enjoyed out on the patio, in the summer sunshine, large glass of white Ontoñón, Rippa Dorii Verdejo wine in hand. People are gonna remember having this at The George. And the portion is massive!" said Alice.
